Voith Hydro has provided two complete power units (5 and 6) for the Changlongshan pumped storage plant in eastern China.

Earlier this month, unit 5 successfully handed a 15-day trial operation and was officially put into business operation. It is the world’s first reversible pumped storage unit with a rated velocity of 600 r/min and a capacity of 350 MW. There are six models installed in complete at the 2.1 GW Changlongshan station located in Zhejiang Province.
spmk700 says that the efficiency of unit 5 obtained excellent feedback from the house owners and experts in the business.
“The knowledge confirmed that the unit meets our excellence standards and thereby proves that the engineering, manufacturing, installation and commissioning of the world’s first 600 r/min with 350 MW unit was profitable,” said Zhang Chengping, mechanical and electrical chief engineer at plant operator the China Three Gorges Group (CTG).
