Amarinth supplies API 610 pumps for the West Qurna-2 growth project in Iraq

Amarinth has delivered two separate orders of API 610 pumps, together value £1.2 million, for the West Qurna-2 expansion challenge in Iraq.

West Qurna-2, positioned approximately sixty five km north-west of the seaport town of Basra, is among the world’s biggest onshore oilfields. The expansion project is anticipated to increase the oilfield’s manufacturing capability from the present four hundred,000 barrels oil per day (bpd) to 480,000 bpd, with a goal to achieve a complete production capability of 800,000 bpd by 2025.
The first order, from Cannon Artes, was for seven tremendous duplex API 610 OH1 pumps. The bespoke designed pumps are for a low shear application and required specialist Plan 53B seal assist methods incorporating air cooled seals and stainless-steel accumulators. All electrical items have been IECEx certified to be used in an ATEX Zone 2 hazardous space. Despite the worldwide Covid-19 pandemic during the design and manufacture, delivery was achieved within the required time of just 32-weeks from order.

Witness testing and inspection was undertaken by Bureau Veritas and a full legalised Iraq documentation package was delivered with the pumps. Delivery was achieved on a short 38-weeks, despite the worldwide Covid-19 pandemic.
